Opals come in a large variety, ranging from common opal, precious opal and fire opal. The webinar will cover all major opal varieties and give insights into how to test them and detect any treatments. Synthetic opals and opal imitations are also discussed. The presentation will be followed by a short practical session.
The second part of the webinar will cover chrysoberyl, with special emphasis on alexandrite. Alexandrite is one of the gemstones highly sought after, and prices vary between origins. A short description of alexandrite origins will be presented along with discussions of synthetics and imitations. A short practical session will be included.
