Description
Traversing the globe, filmmaker Jason Kohn (Manda Bala, Love Means Zero) journeys across America, Botswana, China and India on a high-stakes quest to investigate the deeply held myth that diamonds — the ultimate symbol of committed love — are indeed forever. In his travels, he befriends a gemologist Dusan Simic who is trying to warn the world that lab-grown diamonds are being mixed with mined, natural diamonds, but the industry he’s trying to save refuses to listen. Featuring an unforgettable cast of characters, from disruptors to miners, mixers and middle-men, Nothing Lasts Forever delves to the heart of what is real and what is fake, calculating the high cost of exposing the truth inside an industry built on secrecy.
Dusan Simic, B.Sc. FGG is research gemologist of AG&J (Analytical Gemology and Jewelry, NYC). Simic’s intense research in identification projects on HPHT treatments, synthetic diamonds, multi-step treatments of diamonds and radiation and annealing processes as well as his technical know-how of diamond analytical instruments have been well appreciated in the gems and jewelry industry. He holds a USPTO Patent 10,088,432 “Synthetic Diamond Labeling and Identification System and Method”. Simic is the main character in the forthcoming documentary “Nothing Last Forever”, a 90-minute film for cinema about the diamond industry by award-winning filmmaker Jason Kohn that premiered on Berlin and Austin Festivals in 2022, and to be featured on Showtime.
