Short Description:
The most important emerald, ruby and sapphire treatments and origins are discussed, and it will be shown how standard equipment including microscopy can help. Typical inclusions are shown, and results of advanced testing is given. Possibilities and limitations for the various methods are discussed.
Program aims:
Participants will gain a solid understanding of the types of treatments in these gems, and how far they can go with origin determination. Basic gemological tools, methods of how to get the best result in the microscope, and advanced methods are demonstrated.
